Programming Director

In addition to standard board responsibilities and privileges, the programming director is responsible for planning and coordinating the events and programs of the chapter that reflects activities consistent with the AIGA mission and meets the needs of our chapter members. Events and programs constitute the outward appearance of the chapter and provide for member opportunities and community outreach.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Work with the board members to develop and produce quality and profitable programming
  • Lead the recruitment of event chairs with assistance of volunteer director
  • Assist, authorize, and oversee the planning of the venue, speakers and sponsors, particularly establishing and tracking of event budgets, and time management
  • Ensure completion of program summaries for every event and collections of related material (i.e. samples of mailings, letters written) and notes from each event, complied by event program chair
  • Ensure submission of program summaries to the national office (via national website) before Leadership Retreat in June
  • Support sponsorship director in nurturing event sponsor relationships by facilitating meetings with the sponsor(s) and event chair(s)prior to events
  • Work with website director to ensure event schedule is promoted locally, regionally, and nationally through regular updates to the local and national website as well as through email announcements to regional chapters
  • Assist in securing speakers, sponsors, and venues when needed
  • Update and maintain Event Planning Packet
  • Report on upcoming and past events at the monthly board meetings
  • Ensure complete set of files is delivered to next programming director
  • Organize and lead a committee to assist with duties and responsibilities
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the mission and goals of the AIGA
  • Willingness to lead by example and with enthusiasm
  • Ability to successfully juggle planning of multiple events under tight deadlines
  • Strong organization, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Willingness and ability to follow through on commitments within the time frame allotted
