Open AIGA Seattle Board Positions
Education Director
In addition to standard board responsibilities and privileges, the education director is responsible for achieving the education agenda of AIGA through student and education-oriented programming and events. The education director will also work to establish a network of educators within the community and advance the visibility of and awareness for AIGA's role among young professionals. He/she will also be responsible for the creation and maintenance of student chapters and serve as a liaison to all institutions in regards to all design community issues.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Work closely with the local student chapters and their faculty coordinators to develop appropriate programming and support for the student chapters
- Identify student liaisons to work with AIGA Seattle on student initiatives and events
- Meet regularly with student liaisons
- Discuss issues of importance to students
- Work with liaisons to present the annual Jump Start, and Reality Check events
- Assist with reviewer invitations
- Assure that liaisons assist with event preparations
- Assure that liaisons attend and are responsible for the events
- Suggest and implement student-based programming to the board and events committee
- Encourage professors to make students aware of AIGA and related events
- Organize and lead a committee to assist with duties and responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the mission and goals of the AIGA
- Familiarity with local area schools and related design programs
- Strong communication and facilitation skills
- Willingness and ability to follow through on commitments within the time frame allotted
