Kristine Johnson is the design force behind Cognition Studio, a boutique studio she started in 2001 with partner David Ehlert. Cognition Studio is a unique blend of medical illustration and graphic design targeted for the biomedical, health and wellness industries. Our strength is in our visual story telling—working for a wide variety of clients that include Bellacure, Calistoga Pharma, Fred Hutch, Northwest Association for Biomedical Research, Pathway Medical, Southern California Center for Neuroscience and Spine, Swedish, and the UW.

Kristine's work has been featured in Graphis, GDUSA, Create Magazine, and the Graphic Artist Guild and she has been a guest lecturer at the University of Illinois–Chicago and the Association of Medical Illustrators. She earned a BFA in biocommunications and a MAMS in biomedical visualization from the University of Illinois, with 3 years of post-graduate design studies at the School of Visual Concepts. She is a member of ATypI, SOTA, Icograda, AMI, the Designer's Accord and is passionate about giving back to the community. Serving on Harborview Hospital's Community Advisory Committee from 2005-2009. In 2006 she pioneered SVC's first independent senior design group—a monthly melding between active working professionals and senior students—designed to harbor productive mentorships and prepare students for the real world of design...beyond the classroom.

As a new member of the AIGA board, Kristine is excited to roll up her sleeves and work hard for Seattle's design community. She'll bring her insane work ethic, intuitive business and people skills, and strong sense of adventure to the board.
