About AIGA / The Seattle Chapter Board

August de los Reyes

August has over ten years award-winning experience in creative management and design. His areas of expertise include ambient intelligence, brand theory, and visual harmonization. August holds a degree in graphic design and literature. He is the author of two books and several articles and papers on various design and branding topics.

Currently, August is the user experience manager for Microsoft's forthcoming Web-based Search technology. Prior to his arrival in Seattle, he was a design director at Philips Design in the Netherlands. His previous clients include Kodak, 7UP, Alta Vista, Harvard Business School and the European Commission, the executive branch of the European Union.

August is passionate about all aspects of design. While only a recent member of the AIGA, August was active in the Beroepsorganisatie Nederlandse Ontwerpers (BNO), Holland's equivalent organization. August is an frequent speaker and most recently presented a paper on measuring emotional engagement of visual design at SIG CHI in Vienna. He is also a member of the Design Management Institute and the Association for Computing Machinery.

Honors and awards

AIGA has a long tradition of recognizing individuals for their outstanding achievements in the profession and annually awards the prestigious Medal.
