About AIGA / The Seattle Chapter Board

Jeff Barlow
President

Jeff transplanted his family to Seattle in 1996 because he liked the design work that was being produced here. He spent a few years at TeamDesign/Methodologie, then spun out as a co-founder of the print/brand-based studio called GRIP. He is now the principal and creative director of his own studio, jelvetica.

Jeff's passion for typography (or is it a scary obsession?) comprises a large part of his design identity and is reflected in all of the work he creates. His poster work and ideas have been featured in the HOW International Design Annual and the HOW Self-Promotion Annual. His annual reports and non-profit work have also been honored by the Potlatch Annual Report Show, Creativity 27, Print magazine, and other publications. His design and strategy experience includes work for Expedia, InfoSpace, National MS Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Washington Health Foundation, and Washington Mutual.

To say Jeff's design enthusiasm is contagious would be an understatement. He has shared his love of design, concept , and typography with anyone who will listen, from individuals to large groups. In addition to his day job, he is currently reaching the smaller groups as a part-time instructor of typography at SVC.
