What’s a Wayzgoose?
It’s a centuries-old celebration of the honored craft of letterpress printing. While The School of Visual Concepts’ Wayzgoose doesn’t date back quite so far, the ninth edition of this event promises to be bigger, better, and Wayzgoosier than ever, with steamroller printing, a marketplace, an equipment swap, and demonstrations.

Steamroller Smackdown
Local design firms and artists are challenged to produce a giant poster, printed in the SVC parking lot, using a two-ton steamroller as a press. The friendly competition pits teams against each other, with the resulting posters auctioned to the public to benefit SVC’s letterpress programs. Special guest judges will announce the smackdown winner at 5:30 p.m.

Letterpress Marketplace
Artists will be on hand to promote their studios and sell letterpress posters, cards, books, and other ephemera.

Equipment Swap
Printers will bring type, cuts, tools, printing accessories, and who-knows-what for selling, buying, or simply admiring.

Shop Tours & Printing Demonstrations
The SVC letterpress studio will be open for tours. Guests may print a free letterpress keepsake on SVC’s beautifully restored antique iron handpress.
